About
Mission
Located in Pine City, MN, the Art Center has been serving the Greater Pine City area since 2009 with a variety of programming opportunities. As a non-profit, volunteer-led organization, our mission is simple: “The Arts for Everyone!” We strive daily to ensure that our community feels welcome in our facility – a gathering place for artisans and art-lovers alike – and that those we serve feel as though they are a part of a great organization that’s committed to adding value to the community.
History
In October 2017 we took the next step to making an impact in our community by becoming property owners. The Pine Center for the Arts Gallery & Office space is our home and we began the process of investing in its future. Thanks to a very committed group of volunteers, we have been raising “Brick” contributions from our community to purchase the building. We secured a loan to make the purchase, but have hopes that the Brick Contributions will continue to come in and we can pay off the loan early.
In May 2018 we continued investing in our new home by completing the necessary roof repairs, including the addition of new insulation to help reduce future heating expenses. This project was made possible through grant contributions from Greater Pine Area Endowment, East Central Energy, and Minnesota Energy Resources.
Goals
The Art Center foundation was built on the idea that we wanted to create a gathering place for the artistic community. Through our space, we’ve encouraged partnerships with other organizations to grow that community. Pine City Heritage Players, the local community theater group, uses our space for rehearsals or planning meetings. A group of local musicians gather twice a month for a Bluegrass Jam Session – a night to simply share their love of music.
