In this class you will learn about growing mushrooms in a 5 gallon bucket and you will take home your own bucket that you will make in class. You will be able to harvest mushrooms from this bucket within 1 or 2 months.
The class will be informative about mushrooms and terminology, as well as a fun and hands-on experience. There will be mushroom snacks once class is done and time to ask questions and socialize. There will be at least 4 varieties of oyster mushrooms for you to choose from, and you should be able to harvest over a pound and a half of mushrooms from the bucket. On top of that, when you are done, you will have an excellent addition to your compost pile (and maybe more mushrooms from the compost after a bit)! This class involves the use of a power drill, if you are not comfortable using one, the class teacher will help you. Attention teachers and educators! This class is a perfect environment to learn the basics of this method to teach your pupils! This is a great project for students interested in science, nature, fungi, and food!
